Video-measuring system for analysis of microstructures and macrostructures of materials

Hardware and software system VESTRA Imaging System is convenient and easy to operate. It consists from the following parts:

  • Optical microscope produced by Carl Zeiss (Germany)
  • Digital video camera with high resolution
  • modern and high-performance computer equipped with photo-printer
  • specialized material-graphic software VESTRA IS Pro

Our company has more than 8 years’ experience in the development and implementation of automated image analysis. In our days VESTRA Imaging System is successfully working in more than 40 control and research laboratories of Russian and CIS enterprises. VESTRA Imaging System has been developed by company LATEMI (early Mitela) in cooperation with well-known Russian universities. The main aim was to create the product that will suit all modern requirement to automated image analyses and at the same time the product must be maximum convenient and easy to operate.

As a result of the development appeared the system that allows very convenient and easy to make quality and quantity analysis of macro- and microstructure of the material.

The distinctive feature of the VESTRA Imaging System is convenient and easy to operate interface, you don’t need special skills to be able to work on computer. The system is available for every user with every level of computer skills.

Because of the great variety of tools for image processing, above mentioned system is suitable both for everyday control operations and for laboratory researches. It allows to increase the productivity of everyday operations during research.

Made by the user the sequence of actions with the image is saved as a file and can be used in the future for similar structures processing. VESTRA Imaging System already has a set of pre-processing schemes for the solution of typical problems in materials science. Besides, the user can create schemes (basing on Software tools) for solving nonstandard researching requirements.

The basic configuration of VESTRA Imaging System consists of  modules for solving such standard material science tasks as  assessment of contamination of non-metallic inclusions according to GOST 1778-70, definition of the points of the grain in the steels according to GOST 5639-82, definition of the points of inclusions of graphite in cast iron according to GOST 3443-77, the ratio of ferritic and pearlitic constituents in steels, analysis of alpha and beta phases in nonferrous metals, definition of the average conditional size of the grain in the still, aluminum, copper and its alloys according to GOST 5639-82, GOST 21073-75, ASTM E112, definition of the depth of the decarburized layer according to GOST 1763, definition of the microhardness by Vickers and Knoop.

Besides,  VESTRA Imaging System has a great variety of tools so users be able to create the methods for nonstandard structures processing. It can be very useful function for research activity.

Our company is also always ready to create separately connected module for solving specific tasks upon your request in accordance with the technical specifications.

VESTRA Imaging System releasing in accordance with technical conditions КСАИ. 0124. 003. ТУ, was successfully tested in “ROSTEST — Moscow” and added as measurement instrument to the register of measurement instruments of RF under №36369-07. Government standard certificate RU.C.27.010.A № 29863.

Company LATEMI would like to suggest you VESTRA Imaging System as the overall solution for automated analysis of materials macro and microstructures. Above mentioned solution will help you easy and fast to test materials (both raw materials and manufactured products), to make quality and quantity analysis of material microstructures in accordance with RF and international standards, to measure microhardness by Vickers and Knoop methods. Using this system you can easily and quickly receive and archive image parts of the materials microstructure, create structures photo albums.

1vkl

Analysis  non-metallic inclusions in steel. GOST 1778-70 method Ш and К

Determination of contamination of non-metallic inclusions of the steels made by images of nonetched sample surface. According to the morphological characteristics  is made the separation of the following inclusion types: line oxides, spot oxides, brittle silicates, plastic silicates, nondeflecting silicates, sulfide, line nitrides and carbonitrides, spot nitrides and carbonitrides, aluminum nitride. The report is displayed in accordance with the methods Ш and К.

2Zerno

The size of grain in steels and alloys. GOST 5639-82

Analysis is made in accordance with method Ш1, area method, secant method. The allocation of grain boundaries is made according brightness characteristics, then lost boundaries are completed with the help of special instruments. According to the analysis results report receives dates in accordance with the selected method and also statistic dates: analysis area, max, min. grade (size) of the grain, the distribution histogram of grain size.

3phase

Phase analysis

This module is designed to determine the percentage of phases in ferrite-pearlite structures, to determinate the alpha and beta phases in nonferrous metals and its alloys and other structures that have more than 1 clear phase. Determination of the phase is made upon brightness characteristics. The percentage of the content is sent to the report in accordance with chosen standard or methods.

4graphit

The definition of the content and size of inclusions of graphite. GOST 3443

Allows in automatic mode to divide inclusions of the graphite according its types and to check its content in the cast iron. After definition of the inclusions of graphite in accordance with brightness characteristics, next step – to make division of graphite inclusions by types on the basis of morphology. Then define the content of the    flaked graphite in grey cast iron, content of spherical and compacted graphite in  high-strength cast iron, content of compact graphite in  malleable cast iron.

5pores

Porosity analysis

Allows in automatic mode in minimum working house to define the total area of the pores, average, max, min size of the pore, min, max and average porosity in the field, standard deviation and other statistic characteristics, to create the histogram of pore allocation on the sample in accordance with parameters full filled by the user.
